The last set of molars to come in, the wisdom teeth can sometimes fail to emerge in proper alignment or they don’t come in at all, getting trapped between the jaw bone and the gum tissue. When they don’t come in, they’re called impacted teeth and can cause swelling, pain, and infection. Improperly aligned or impacted wisdom teeth cause problems so, we remove the teeth and the trouble. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause permanent damage to the jawbone, nearby teeth and sometimes lead to cysts and tumors. We suggest you have them removed before you’re 18 if they come in poorly.
